The food children eat at school plays an important role in their wellbeing, and eating a well-balanced diet will not only maintain and improve their health, but will also set them on the right track for later life. We understand this and that’s why we are passionate about serving fresh, high quality and locally sourced food that is cooked in our kitchen. Responsible catering At Aspens - we take our responsibility of catering for today’s children and young adults seriously. All of our dishes are prepared everyday using quality, fresh and seasonal ingredients that are responsibly sourced. As well as ensuring the food on the plate is healthy, we want our customers to understand the importance of eating the right foods and help them with their food and nutrition journey. Don’t think that your child can’t enjoy our great food if they have a special diet - they are an important part of our catering service. We can provide food if they have an intolerance, an allergy, or require an alternative choice due to religious beliefs. ​ Legislation requires caterers to provide allergen information on food sold that is served ‘unpackaged’. Aspens already cater for lots of children with allergies and we regularly check the information from suppliers to see if there have been any ingredient changes. It is still important that our customers talk to us so we can work together and continue to provide meals that are safe for them to eat. We believe that effective learning takes place when there is considerable emphasis on active involvement, opportunities to talk both imaginatively, expressively and to explain and clarify thinking. The school expects everyone to develop and show a sense of responsibility and self-discipline whether alone, together, at work or at play, and to support policies on equal opportunities. We actively promote British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs to prepare our pupils for life in modern day Britain. KS1 & KS2 SATS Home / Parents / KS1 & KS2 SATS / Information for parents: 2023 National curriculum tests at the end of key stages 1 and 2 ​ Key stage 1 tests – Year 2 pupils Your child’s teacher is responsible for judging the standards your child is working at in English, maths and science, by the end of key stage 1. To help inform those judgements, pupils sit national curriculum tests in English and maths, commonly called SATs. They may also sit an optional test in English grammar, punctuation and spelling. ​ ​ Subject Test Paper English Reading Short text and questions Long text with separate questions Mathematics Arithmetic Mathematical reasoning English grammar, punctuation and spelling (optional test) Spelling Punctuation and grammar (including vocabulary) Teachers will use the results from these tests, along with the work your child has done throughout the year, to help them reach their own judgements about how your child is progressing at the end of key stage 1. These teacher assessment judgements will be reported to you by the end of the summer term. ​ ​ Key stage 2 tests – Year 6 pupils If you have a child in year 6, at the end of key stage 2, they will take natio nal curriculum tests in English reading, English grammar, punctuation and spelling and mathematics. ​ The tests help measure the progress pupils have made and identify if they need additional support in a certain area. The tests are also used to assess schools’ performance and to produce national performance data. The key stage 2 tests will be taken on set dates unless your child is absent, in which case they may be able to take them up to 5 school days afterwards. ​ ​ Subject Test Paper English grammar, punctuation and spelling Spelling Punctuation and grammar (including vocabulary) English reading English reading Mathematics Arithmetic Mathematical reasoning At the end of the summer term you should receive test results for: ​ English grammar, punctuation and spelling English reading Mathematics Teacher assessment As there is no test for English writing, this will be reported as a teacher assessment judgement. This is a judgement teachers will make, based on your child’s work at the end of key stage 2. You will also receive teacher assessment judgements for English reading, Mathematics and Science. ​ How can you help your child to prepare? ​ Teachers will make sure all pupils in their class are prepared for the tests. There’s nothing specifically test-related that you should do to prepare your child. Results & Ofsted Home / About Us / Results & Ofsted Report / Primary school where pupils find their lessons fun and exciting and where they are greeted by their kind, friendly teachers each morning is graded Good by Ofsted ​ Ofsted visited Sudell Primary School on the 6th and 7th October 2021 and found a transformed school where pupils achieve well because school leaders have high expectations of pupils; where pupils enjoy being at school and are greeted each morning by their kind, friendly teachers; and a place where lessons are fun and exciting. Jane Fletcher, Chief Executive Officer at Aldridge Education stated “ the Ofsted judgement for Sudell is a testament to the transformational journey the school has undertaken in the last few years and l have no doubts from what l have seen during the inspection that they will continue on their journey to Outstanding”. ​ Inspectors concluded that Sudell is a school where pupils are kind and friendly to each other and to visitors; where pupils who are new to the school are warmly welcomed and make friends quickly; where pupils behave well in lessons and around school; and a school where pupils feel safe and cared for. Jenna Harty, Principal at Sudell said “the last two years have been extremely difficult for all schools including Sudell, where we have had to operate in a global pandemic, support key workers and keep our pupils and community safe.
