RE Curriculum

At Sudell Primary School, Religious Education plays an important role, along with all other curriculum areas, particularly PSHE and the teaching of British Values, in promoting the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our children. Questful RE takes children on a journey of exploration as within each unit, they investigate a series of key questions in response to different religious ideas. As they work alongside their classmates using a variety of teaching and learning activities, children reflect upon, evaluate and reach their own decisions in response to these key questions. In all maintained schools RE must be taught according to either the locally agreed syllabus or in accordance with the school’s designated religion or religious denomination, or in certain cases the trust deed relating to the school.

For each subject, we have identified a set of Core Key Skills. These are the skills which underpin the children’s learning across the curriculum and enable them to progress and deepen their learning each year. They show a clear progression in skills within each curriculum area and act as the building blocks for success.

Throughout our curriculum we believe in a subject specific teaching approach. The exact units to be taught are identified on our subject curriculum maps. Our curriculum maps ensure there is a clear progression of knowledge and skills underpinning the learning experiences of the children.
