Year 4
What a fantastic Autumn term we have had in Year 4. The children have settled well and have tackled the Year 4 curriculum with enthusiasm. We are looking forward to the second half of the Autumn term as there are lots of exciting things ahead such as Halloween, Bonfire Night and of course… Christmas! In our first ‘class newsletter’ of the new school year, we would like to share some reminders, updates and information about what we have been doing recently in the classroom.
As always, we are more than happy to help and support you at school – please get in touch with any questions queries or concerns. We monitor Dojo throughout the day and will respond as soon as we can.
Curriculum
Please refer to the class curriculum map (on the school website) to see what the children will be learning each half term.
Over this half term, the children have been studying a book called ‘Whale’. This fantastic picture book encouraged the children to delve deeply into their imaginations and resulted in some amazing writing. In our history lessons the children have also been learning about the way that children’s lives have changed through the Tudor and Victorian times to modern day.
The children have had a great time in Science this half term learning about electricity and how circuits work.
To the right you can see a photograph of the children creating a ‘human circuit’. They held hands to demonstrate a closed circuit and one child dropped their hand so the others could explain what would then happen to the circuit.
Homework Incentive Reminder
A reminder that the children in Year 4 are working towards earning a fantastic end of term reward. Each time children complete their homework, they will earn a special ‘DidiDot’ sticker which is added to a chart in the classroom. If children earn all 20 stickers by the end of the Autumn term they will take part in a special reward day!
Weekly homework includes reading three times a week, weekly spelling practice and a Math page in the children’s CGP books. Please sign your child’s reading diary once they have read.
Please also ask for your child’s TT Rockstar login details.
